Curious Thoughts: AI and Cancer

When we fall down and scratch our knee, when we are sick, when an organ fails and can be replaced, we do what we can to give our body a chance to heal and live.

I met a brilliant geneticist years ago who worked on cancer research. The very little I remember of her overly simplified explanation about what cancer is, is that cancer happens when cells divide, and the loss of DNA information during the replication is such that it causes the cells to do things they shouldn't. Our bodies fight cancer everyday by removing the bad cells but when we age are bodies can't keep up.

I met a brilliant engineer who was working on nanotechnology. And while he wasn't allowed to tell me much, I was at least able to get out of our conversations the general capabilities and potential uses.

Years ago, I started designing and building a near real-time analytics engine (that's what I called it), capable of determining differences between large data sets. This engine would later turn into an IT process orchestration system where it would be used to self-heal network infrastructures.

Larry Elisson was on TV recently talking about AI and cancer. I remembered what my colleagues told me years ago which led me to these thoughts:

If a computer network resembles a nervous system, which it does, and if computers, servers, devices, etc. are considered nodes, which they are, and if a system could be designed to diagnose the bad information (DNA) within the nodes (cells) then resolve the bad information (DNA) with virtual bots (nano tech), which I did, then... Are people attempting to use AI to detect where too much DNA information is lost through cell division, then use Nanotechnology to remove bad cells or deliver good cells with the correct DNA information thereby giving the body a chance to heal and live?

If that isn't the approach (probably since the assumptions above are not accurate), then I am interested in learning more about what the approach or goal is.
